Supastarter vs a $29 Vue starter
These two products are not the same category. Supastarter is a SaaS framework: multi-tenancy, internationalisation, an admin panel, documentation, teams and roles. This starter is a recipe: one Vue 3 app, one database, one payment path, working end to end. The comparison only matters if you are honest about which one your product actually needs.
Side by side
| Supastarter | SaaS Starter (this one) | |
|---|---|---|
| Framework | Next.js and Nuxt — full framework choices | Vue 3 + TypeScript + Vite, one choice |
| Price | Tiered, roughly $299+ one-time | $29 one-time |
| Multi-tenancy | Yes, organisations and members | No — single user, single profile row |
| i18n | Yes, message catalogues | No — English only |
| Admin panel | Yes | No |
| Auth | Email, OAuth, magic link | Email + confirmation link |
| Billing | Stripe and Lemon Squeezy subscriptions | Stripe subscriptions + verified webhook |
| Database | Postgres / Prisma / Supabase options | Supabase Postgres with RLS + explicit GRANTs |
| Time to first deploy | Hours — you have to configure the parts you use | ~15 minutes — env vars and deploy |
Buy Supastarter if
- You are selling to teams, so you need organisations, invitations and per-seat billing.
- You are launching in more than one language, or will be within a quarter.
- You want an admin panel you did not have to design.
- You are building on Next.js — their Next version is the most mature part of the product.
It is a good product and it is priced for a product that replaces a month of work. If that list describes you, buy it.
Buy this starter if
- Your SaaS is one user, one account, one subscription. No seats, no orgs, no invites.
- You want Vue, not Nuxt SSR. A plain Vite SPA with a couple of serverless functions is cheaper to host and simpler to reason about.
- You need the billing layer correct, not the whole framework: Checkout, a
profilesrow, and a webhook that flipsfree / active / canceled / past_due. - You want to see the code before paying — the demo runs the same source.
The part nobody puts in the comparison table
A framework gives you more code to maintain and more decisions to inherit. Multi-tenancy is not a feature you add later — it is a data model. If you genuinely need it, buying it is the right call. If you do not, it is schema you will be explaining to yourself in six months.
Conversely, a $29 starter will not scale into an enterprise product on its own. It is a starting point that is correct for one shape of product, and it says so.
