ShipFast vs a Vue 3 starter: the honest comparison
If you are shopping for a SaaS boilerplate and you already write Vue, the first question is not "which one has more features". It is "which one am I not going to rewrite". ShipFast is built on Next.js — React. That single fact decides most of this comparison.
Side by side
| ShipFast | SaaS Starter (this one) | |
|---|---|---|
| Framework | Next.js (React), App Router | Vue 3 + TypeScript + Vite |
| Price | $199 one-time (as listed Oct 2026) | $29 one-time |
| Styling | Tailwind CSS | UnoCSS (Tailwind-compatible utilities) |
| Auth | NextAuth / Supabase — several options | Supabase email auth, one path, already wired |
| Database | Supabase or Firebase or MongoDB | Supabase Postgres with RLS + explicit GRANTs |
| Payments | Stripe and Lemon Squeezy | Stripe Checkout + verified webhook only |
| Marketing extras | Landing page, blog, waitlist, SEO helpers | None — this is the app layer, not the funnel |
| Scope | Broad, multi-provider | Narrow, one working path end to end |
Where ShipFast is the better buy
Being fair: if your next project is React anyway, ShipFast is a reasonable $199. It gives you more surface area — blog, waitlist, SEO plumbing, two payment providers — and Marc Lou ships updates constantly. It is also a bigger community, which matters when you get stuck.
If you want a marketing site and a product in one purchase, ShipFast covers both. This starter does not.
Where this starter wins
- You keep your Vue skills. No JSX, no server components, no rewriting your components in React. Vite dev server, Pinia, vue-router, UnoCSS — the stack you already use.
- One working path instead of options. A boilerplate with three auth providers and two databases is three times the surface to debug. Here there is one
profilestable, one trigger, one webhook, and it is already correct. - Price. $29 vs $199. If all you need is auth + RLS + billing, you are paying $170 for features you will delete.
- It documents its own bugs. The guides on this site are the exact errors this codebase hit — the Supabase
GRANTproblem, webhook signature mismatch, the newsb_publishable_keys. That is the part most boilerplates hide.
What you give up
No blog, no waitlist, no landing page template, no Lemon Squeezy, no Firebase, no React ecosystem. If you need those on day one, ShipFast is cheaper than building them yourself — just not on Vue.
